The conference is open 10 am to 5 pm both days and offers you a direct connections to the lastest happenings in the local food scene. Please make plans to join us this Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 11 am to 5 pm for our first ever DIVA DAY at Bank 40 Mercantile. Food and fashion will converge to make a spectacular playground for we ladies who desire to endulge our "inner girl"!

Purses, jewelery, hats and home decor at GG Gundies will join the fabulous fashions of SWEET ZOO and the extensive collection of TURKISH SCARVES and SILVER JEWELRY which will be featured at Bank 40 Mercantile.

The Elves Lair offers a wide variety of seasonal home decor and plays host to psychic Donna Simms for partial and full readings. Chef Steven Thompson at The Century Inn has whipped up a special lunch menu just for us girls featuring the cheeses of Emerald Valley Artisans. 

Christian Klay Winery will be pouring their best at Bank 40 Mercantile paired with seasonal favorites like Feta Antoinetta and Harvest Cheddar.

Friends of Emerald Valley; Hidden Hills Dairy offers three special farmsted cheeses: Buttercup, Ivory Lace and Old Gold Gouda. Maceknzie Creamery sends their newly crowned International Gold Medal winning chevre's in Cognac Fig and Apricot Ginger along with seasonal favorites Pumpkin Spice and Orange Cranberry.

Biscotti by Antoinette debuts their newest creation: Carmel Apple along with over sixteen other varieties of my mother's famous biscotti

This is the short list of the many things waiting for you to experience in the "small but weird" village of Scenery Hill! I look forward to seeing you this Saturday.

]]>Tue, 20 Sep 2011 18:19:56 -0500<![CDATA[Who We Are]]>Emerald Valley Artisans, located in Scenery Hill, PA in Washington County is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Alan Fasnacht and Alisa Fava-Fasnacht, whose combined farming credentials date back four-generations to Alisa’s great-grandfather in Parma Italy, where his dairy herd produced milk for the creation of world-famous Parmigiano-Reggiano. 

Alan and Alisa founded the company back in 2004, after an impromptu foray into the world of cheese-making with a small batch of Ricotta they made using milk from their prize-winning dairy herd. 

A slight “miscalculation” in their recipe produced an overabundance, which allowed for friends and neighbors to try their creation as well. 

The response was astounding—“You have to keep making this stuff!”—and so they did. 

That was the beginning of what is now Emerald Valley Artisans.

Since its humble beginning with one cheese back in 2004, Emerald Valley Artisans has expanded its line to include ten varieties of traditional aged cheeses, all produced with raw milk, and ten varieties of Fromage Blanc. 

All varieties of Fromage Blanc are blended in-house (literally, in Emerald Valley Artisans’ 19th century farmhouse kitchen) from original recipes and hand-packed in “100% BPA Free” containers. 

The “ladies” of Emerald Valley Artisans work hard, day in and day out, combing the pastures for choice eats in an effort to produce the highest quality milk, and Emerald Valley Artisans ensures that their cheeses match those efforts.
